madeinvic.ca 100 Cameras
In 2010, I handed out 100 cameras and asked: "What does made in Victoria mean to you". I called it the made in vic 100 cameras project.
The cameras were more than just a a means to an end. They were there to remove barriers to participation while subtly restricting participants. We wanted everyone to be able to participate - regardles of access, age, knowledge, or skill. Film limited the number of frames from participants so as not to allow a single photog to dominate the overall collection. The disposable nature of the cameras was a parallel to the experiences being captured. No chance to edit or redo. Point and Shoot and hope you got it right.
